Polestar is an electric performance car brand unlike any other. It was founded in 1996 under the name Flash Engineering, by racing driver Jan ‘Flash’ Nilsson. Using Volvos as a staple base, the touring car outfit had over 100 wins in Europe between 1996 and 2005. ‘Flash’ stepped aside in 2005, selling the company to Christian Dahl, who renamed it Polestar Racing. Although still connected to Volvo, Polestar now distinguishes itself as a separate performance brand, sharing technology and engineering expertise with the Volvo Car Group, yet going its own way as a guiding star.
