New electric vehicles for 2025: 10 must-sees

In Belgium, meanwhile, the transition to electric company cars is at cruising speed. The range is already extremely large, but there are many more interesting models on the way. What can we already look forward to for 2025 and also 2026?

Alpine A390_B

This A390_B concept car from Renault's sporty Alpine brand is the forerunner of an electric AND family A110. It will combine the driving pleasure of that sports car with the functionality of a five-door bodywork and the durability of an electric drive. Three engines and all-wheel drive should provide the performance and driving dynamics you expect from an Alpine. Who claimed electric driving can't be engaging?

BMW Neue Klasse i3

The BMW range already counts a lot of EVs, with the Neue Klasse promised for (or from) 2025 shifting up another gear. A new platform, new bodywork, innovative materials, efficient engines and batteries with high energy density and high charging speeds will raise the bar considerably. It will start with an upper-middle class sedan, say an electric equivalent for the 3-Series. An SUV, as a successor to the iX3, could soon follow.

Citroën C5 Aircross

At Citroën, the C5 Aircross will be relieved next year, the new model will come on the STLA Medium platform of (among others) the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 and will be launched with an all-electric powertrain in addition to petrol-powered variants. This will be wrapped in an aerodynamically optimised bodywork with quite attractive shapes. The concept car shows that anyway, it remains to be seen whether the production model will look equally bold.

Cupra Raval

The youngest brand of the large Volkswagen group already counts two electric cars with the Born and the Tavascan, with the Raval adding another model next year. It will share its technology with the Skoda Epiq and the Volkswagen ID.2, also announced some time ago, all of which will be competitors for (among others) the new electric city cars from Citroën and Renault. We are also aiming for a list price of around €25,000 for the Raval and a driving range of between 400 and 450 kilometres.

Jeep Compass

In 2025, Jeep will start the production of a new and electrically powered Compass in Italy. It will come on the same platform as several Stellantis sister models, hence combustion engines. For the approximately 4.55-metre-long and, as usual, tough EV, we expect an electric motor of a fat 200 hp and a battery with a capacity of up to 98 kWh. This should enable a driving range of up to some 700 kilometres.

Kia EV5

The Niro is the only KIA you can get with both an electric and a conventional drive, the other models of the first type having a first name that starts with ‘EV’. After the rather compact 3 and 4, the sporty 6 and the imposing 9, a 5 is coming pretty soon. That will be an electric counterpart to the popular Sportage and thus an even more practical ‘brother’ to the EV6. The design contains a lot of visual links to the EV9. In terms of driving range, it goes towards 600 kilometres.

Mercedes CLA

At Mercedes, work is in full swing to redeem the smallest models in the catalogue, so there will (also) be electric successors for the A-Class and co. Presumably they will start with a sedan, which will then be the new CLA. The car will have a sporty-looking body with even coupé looks, the very aerodynamic shapes should also ensure a long driving range (up to 750 kilometres!). With 800-volt technology, superfast fast charging will also be possible.

Skoda Epiq

At Skoda, they are firmly continuing to expand the electric range. In 2025, customers with literally and figuratively smaller needs and a more limited budget will also be served. Like sister brands Cupra and Volkswagen, the brand is launching a more compact EV, christened Epiq and blessed with hip bodywork and ditto interior. The city car is about 4.1 metres long and should accommodate four to five people and quite a bit of luggage, with a target range of a good 400 kilometres.

Tesla Model 2

Will there finally be a more compact and sharply priced Tesla in 2025? It still looks that way, that car should then become a competitor to the cheaper EVs already in the catalogue of various European and Asian manufacturers or announced for the next few years and even months. The US carmaker is still not letting its cards look in its face; in terms of design, we can perhaps expect a Robotaxi-like creation. The battery would be of the LFP type.

Toyota Sport Crossover

The name and design for the future production model have not yet been decided, what is already certain is that the handsomely lined and also sporty Sport Crossover Concept will foreshadow a second all-electric Toyota. This will be developed together with big specialist BYD and will thus double the EV offering of the world's largest manufacturer and specialist in hybrid solutions. You can count on sustainable and thus very efficient battery technology.
