One of the main concerns (potential) drivers of electric vehicles have is their annual summer road trip. Of course, it's perfectly feasible to travel to somewhere around southern France in an electric car with some planning.

For those customers who want to prepare for their next road trip with no hassle, LeasePlan would like to offer them peace of mind in the form of a new service: Holiday Car.

Belgian companies are being compelled to work towards greening their company car fleet, with the government pushing them in this direction through new taxation rules that punish high CO2 emissions while rewarding keeping them low. What's more, fleet managers are also fielding more questions than ever about sustainability from employees, including on the topic of more environmentally friendly business travel. Finally, customers and consumers are finding it increasingly important to work with environmentally friendly partners.

Don't let a road trip become a stumbling block

There are plenty of reasons for more and more companies to embrace electric vehicles in their fleet. As a result, however, they are looking for solutions that allow them to switch easily from one type of vehicle to another depending on a driver's situation or needs at a particular point in time. One such example would be that it is more convenient to have a small car available for the daily commute, while a larger vehicle is needed for going on holiday or taking shorter trips. Another would be that employees are reluctant to choose a fully electric vehicle, as they don't want to have to worry about charging the vehicle while they're on holiday.

LeasePlan would not be LeasePlan if it didn't have an answer: the LeasePlan Holiday Car.

Benefits for employers

No additional contract

Just like a replacement car, the Holiday Car service can be included in the monthly leasing price of the lease car for customers with large fleets (regardless of whether the lease car is an electric vehicle or not) and for SME customers (if the lease car is an electric vehicle).

The number of days on which the Holiday Car service can be used is proportionate to the remaining months of the contract. If the service is removed during the term of the contract, the monthly costs for the Holiday Car service will no longer be charged.

Benefits for employees

Tailored to their needs Holiday Cars come in three categories: Luxury, Business and Economy. In the Luxury category, the range consists of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class (saloon or estate); Business includes a Citroën GRAND C4 Picasso, Renault Grand Scenic, Opel Insignia ST and Škoda Superb Combi Ambition; Economy includes an Opel Astra, Renault Captur, Seat Arona and Peugeot 2008. These makes and models may change over time.

Smarter all year round Many people opt for a large company car purely because they want to go on holiday by car in summer. However, if they opt for a smaller car or an electric vehicle, they save money throughout the year and can still go on holiday with a larger (petrol or diesel) vehicle using the Holiday Car scheme. It's certainly food for thought!

"I drive an electric car, so I can't go too far on holiday." These kinds of statements are a thing of the past thanks to the Holiday Car.
