Accenture opts for flexible mobility with Move
At ALD Automotive | LeasePlan, we are not only going for fleet electrification, we are also committed to sustainable mobility alternatives. Thus, with Move we also facilitate the implementation of a flexible mobility strategy. Accenture has seen for themselves that this concept is highly appreciated.
Accenture is a global consulting firm and has about 1,400 employees in Belgium. A large proportion of these are entitled to a leased car. For several years, they have been focusing on flexible mobility, and since last year they have been using the Federal Mobility Budget (FMB). This is a kind of remuneration where the budget that would normally go to a company car is exchanged for various alternatives.
FMB even pays back your loan
Employees can still opt for an electric company car, or they can decide to spend less budget on their company car and use the remaining budget for a (shared) bike, shared car, public transport, and other things. Even partial repayment of their house rent or mortgage loan is possible. Although there is a condition attached: the employee's workplace must be no more than 10 kilometers from their home. In this way, the government wants to encourage Belgians to live close to work and thus leave the car at home for commuting.
About 25% surrender their lease car
The variety of options with the mobility budget is already creating satisfied employees at Accenture. Since the FMB was offered, about 25 per cent of lease car drivers have already traded in their vehicle for the FMB. Especially the option to pay back the mortgage or house rent has proved to be a hit. Accenture consists of a young workforce, many of whose employees live in the city. So they would rather choose bicycle, train and tram than a lease car. And that often leaves a budget to help pay off the mortgage or rent.
"The Federal Mobility Budget is a gamechanger for me. It allows me to cover rent and mobility costs, which takes a huge burden off my shoulders," says Clara Van Kerckhove, an analyst at Accenture. "The FMB is a win-win! It encourages sustainable transport options such as public transport, cycling or carpooling and encourages a flexible working style. If more companies in Belgium offered similar programmes, we could see a significant shift towards more sustainable mobility."
Fast-tracking towards net zero
The FMB also delivers benefits for Accenture itself. Since its implementation, the vehicle fleet has been reduced by a quarter. Anyone who still chooses a car via the FMB will choose an electric car. As a result, the number of cars with combustion engines is disappearing at a rapid pace. And that contributes to Accenture's goals of achieving net-zero emissions by 2025.
"The collaboration between Accenture and Move has resulted in a successful roll-out of the Federal Mobility Budget, which symbolises Accenture's broader commitment to sustainability and improving the employee experience," said Brahim Boujida, HR director at Accenture BeLux. "As Accenture continues its journey towards carbon neutrality, initiatives such as FMB play a central role in driving meaningful change within the organisation."
Convenient platform
To keep full control of their own mobility budget, employees can use the convenient Move platform. This was developed together with Skipr. On the platform, employees get an overview of the budget and expenses. There, they can request reimbursements for public transport or order payment cards, and so much more. The platform makes the transition to the FMB clear and easy for everyone.
"The cooperation with Accenture during this onboarding process went very smoothly," says Skipr's Simon Muylle."Their professionalism and collaborative spirit made it a breeze to gather the right stakeholders. It was an absolute pleasure to work with their passionate and friendly team, resulting in a seamless and efficient process from start to finish. A big round of applause to Accenture for setting the bar high!"
Sustainable mobility today is about much more than electric cars. In a diverse society, employees have different needs and desires. The Federal Mobility Budget cleverly responds to this.
