ALD Automotive | LeasePlan organised the PowerUp for Good challenge for its employees for four weeks in May and June. This challenge encouraged employees to undertake activities focused on physical and mental health, the environment and community involvement. Among other things, they participated in the Brussels 20 km run, a cooking workshop and a webinar on digital pollution, followed by a clean-up of the company's data servers. In the last week of the challenge, all employees got four hours for volunteering for the first time ever. As many as 206 employees participated with 2,911 actions.

‘The PowerUp for Good challenge not only contributes to the well-being of our employees, but also to a stronger sense of belonging. During the activities, our teams push their personal limits and close ties are forged. Initiatives like this strengthen both our company and ties within our community, and that sense of togetherness is only increased by seeing others busy in the news feed*. We all strive for the same goal and do so with great enthusiasm and team spirit,’ says Johan Portier, Country Managing Director of ALD Automotive | LeasePlan.

With this initiative, the leasing company raised 20,000 euros for SOS Children's Villages. This organisation has been helping children who grow up without a family in more than 135 countries and for over 70 years and strives for a world where every child receives love, safety and care from a family. With a stable, warm family environment, children can grow up, develop and become strong young adults. SOS Children's Villages strengthens existing families, builds new families and contributes to the youth care of the future.

François Dufour, Head of Partnerships at SOS Children's Villages, is very grateful for this donation. ‘SOS Children's Villages takes in children who have been placed under supervision by a court because their family situation can no longer guarantee their safety. Within our projects, we offer them a stable home and appropriate care so they can grow up peacefully into strong, independent adults. Their biggest challenge is becoming adults. Their traumatic experiences, the lack of a strong family structure and the discontinuation of subsidies from Youth Aid make it difficult for them to build a professional future. That is why we invest and work with partners like ALD Automotive | LeasePlan to support them in their path to independence.’

‘Social and employee engagement are two important elements within our ESG story. That is why every year we support a local project that makes a difference to people in difficult situations. SOS Children's Villages fits this perfectly. This organisation focuses on children without families, who need stability to continue their school careers. Education, alongside mobility for all and environment, is also one of the focus areas within our sponsorship policy,’concludes Innovation & CSR Manager Ann Larosse.
