Hassle-free return at the end of your contract
At the end of your contract, the time has come to say goodbye to your lease car. Follow the guidelines below to make the process as smooth as possible and to avoid extra costs.
How do you return a car at the end of a lease?
- Checking the condition of the car
Visible signs of wear and tear, such as small scratches and dents, are virtually unavoidable after years of use. Read our wear and tear (UFWT) guidelines for cars and for vans to avoid any unpleasant surprises. If you have noticed any damage that could not be categorised as normal use and wear and tear, please report it via My LeasePlan or to your insurance company before returning the car.
- Preparing the return of a car
- Remove all your personal belongings from the car.
- Make sure the car is clean.
- Make sure the manuals and all the keys and accessories are in the car.
- Make sure these documents are in the glove compartment:
The registration certificate The certificate of conformity The vehicle inspection certificate (if applicable)
- Delete the navigation and phone history and disconnect the app. If this is not done before the vehicle is returned an additional cost will be charged.
- When returning the car, make sure the battery capacity is at least 60% or 250 km, or that there is a minimum amount of fuel left in the tank.
- Destroy your LeasePlan fuel or charge card.
- Hand over all charging cables such as emergency cable, Mennekes cable and/or smart charging cable provided for in the lease contract. You do not need to hand in any loose cable that belongs to the home charging point.
- Returning a car
The car can be picked up in Belgium at your office or at the dealer where you take delivery of your new lease car. Inform us by email from which location we can pick up your car and from what time. Inform us by email from which location we can pick up your car and from what time.
The car's dealer or transporter will check the car with you for damage and verify that all the car's documents, keys and accessories are present. This will be done with the Car Check Document, which can be found inside the vehicle. Once the car arrives at our location, an independent party will carry out a final inspection.
