Climate bonus for the purchase of environmentally friendly cars ends

Late on November 7, 2022, the government issued information that the grant of bonuses to so-called climate bonus cars is stopping. Cars affected are for example hybrid cars and electric cars. This change comes into effect already today, November 8, 2022.

This change will affect you who order a climate bonus car. This means that from November 9 LeasePlan will not include the bonus in our calculations and this will affect your calculation in the term of a higher monthly cost.

The Government's communication states that "the person who bought or ordered such a car must also be able to show the Swedish Transport Agency that the purchase or order was made no later than November 8". Against this background, LeasePlan cannot guarantee that cars ordered around 8 November 2022 will receive their bonus as there is currently no confirmed information on how the purchase or order is to be proven.

The reason for the Government's change is that climate bonus cars today make up around half of new car sales of passenger cars and are found in most price ranges. The cost of owning and driving a climate bonus car is also beginning to be comparable to the cost of owning and driving a petrol or diesel car. State market introduction support is therefore no longer considered justified.
