Frequently asked questions
When your car has been delivered, LeasePlan will send you the registration certificate by post within 3-5 business days. If you have not received a registration certificate or need to order a new, you can contact LeasePlan by calling 08-470 26 00 or at minbil@leaseplan.se. Please be adviced that it can take up to 2 weeks to recive it and that the old certificate will be invalid. Therefore, we advice you to order it as soon as possible if you plan to drive abroad.
A Green card is a proof that the car is insured and that there is coverage for any damage that you can cause to others in traffic. For information about which countries a Green Card is needed, please visit: tff.se.
If your car is insured with LeasePlan, you can request the green card from LeasePlan on 08-470 26 00 or at minbil@leaseplan.se. Keep in mind that we need your order no later than three weeks before you leave to be able to guarantee that you receive your documents in time.
An international certificate shows that you have permission to drive the car outside the borders of Sweden and is needed if you are going abroad with your car. You can download the international certificate from My LeasePlan and print, or you can use our app and get the certificate on the screen if you have a smartphone.
You need to have printer drivers installed on your computer. You can also just show the permit from My LeasePlan or the app on your smartphone if needed.
Environmental stickers (Feinstaubplakette) are needed to get into German cities that have introduced environmental zones (Umweltzonen). The sticker, which shows that the car's particle emissions are below a certain level, must be mounted on the inside of the windscreen. If you are not going to enter an environmental zone but only drive through Germany on Autobahn, no environmental sticker is needed.
Vehicles that are not marked with an environmental sticker are not allowed to enter an environmental zone. This also applies to vehicles that are registered in Sweden or another country. Should you still drive into an environmental zone, you may be fined and the vehicle is not allowed to be driven from the place where you have been stopped. The vehicle must be towed from the environmental zone for further travel.
Environmental zones are signposted on traffic signs with an additional sign indicating which color stickers that are allowed to enter the area. The environmental sticker is available in three colors (red, yellow and green) and which sticker to use depends on how the car meets European emission standards. Environmental stickers can be ordered from DEKRA or be bought on site in German car repair shops or inspection stations.
